There amazing places & powerful movies. Then there's where the two meet together to #blowyourmind as the Ta Prohm Temple Complex in Cambodia does. A Unesco site and featured prominently in the Tomb Raider movies. @cntraveler shares more....

"The sun's just up on Monday morning in #Singapore as I start to wrap up the #cnttakeover with a post of the last of three #escapes - the cheap-ticket, short-haul, huge-payoff destinations that surround this city, making it one of the best gateways in the world.

The Ta Prohm Temple Complex in Cambodia is one of those places you can have heard endless things about, and seen a thousand pictures of, and it will still likely blow your mind when you get there.

It will blow your mind even while scores of kids from across the planet line up in front of one particularly vine-gnarled door, which featured prominently in one of the Tomb Raider movies, for their money selfie (thereby setting this Unesco World Heritage Site firmly in a 21st century context). It is one of the weirdest and most spectacular confluences of nature's hand and man's hand I can think of. Go very early morning, or very late morning, if you can bear fairly serious heat and humidity, to have it a bit more to yourself (though clearly some company is inevitable).."

"This image pretty much sums up my year I have had plenty of unexpected encounters and have been lucky enough to travel the world doing what I love most.

I will be giving Instagram a break until the new year (unless an amazing storm comes through) as I'm finishing off the year in my gallery. I would like to thank everybody for the amazing support I have received. I read every comment and never take anything for granted.

2015 is already shaping up to be a crazy year with trips booked to New Zealand, Lady Elliot Island, Norway, Iceland, Greenland,USA, Canada, Maldives, Tahiti, Tonga and road trips all over Australia. I have a few exciting partners coming on board and a few promotional events planned. In the meantime I hope everybody has a happy and safe Christmas and New Year spending time with those that matter most. I look forward to sharing my new adventures in 2015 in the meantime peace.

The joy and beauty of discovering places is the unexpected, unusual, atypical ones we find.

This Lavender Estate in Tasmania, Australia is certainly one of those with it's lush purple flowers and bold red dirt.

"The red soil, so vibrant, slowly lifted in small puffs with every footfall. The scent of lavender, delicate and subtle carried by the gentle breeze. ... Welcome to Bridestowe Lavender Estate in Tasmania's North. On Tuesday, I did a road trip up to the estate. 500 kms and 11 hours later - back in Hobart with lovely memories and a car smelling of lavender.

Bridestowe is the worlds largest privately owned Lavender farm. The 260 acres of the estate has an estimated 650,000 plants with approximately 200kms of lavender rows. The flowering lavender truly is a sight to behold in rows that curve over the hillsides. The soil is so deeply red and is very typical of Tasmania's North.

A walking tour of the estate is a wonderful experience, tramping along the rows all around the estate. While Ange and I were there, the sun was shining and a gentle breeze blew. When I finally returned to the car my sandals, feet and legs were red from the soil. ... If you are wanting to visit the estate while the lavender is flowering, now is a good time. Harvesting begins in mid January."
